FAQ
What is the first step for a candidate to engage your firm for a job search?
The first step would be to send your resume to a recruiter for review. After receiving a resume, an assessment is completed by an experienced recruiter either in person or over the phone. During the assessment, the recruiter reviews your employment history, identifies your criteria for a potential job and salient opportunities are presented for your consideration. In the event, there is not a specific job that fits your background, resumes are retained for future employment opportunities. Please note, you are contacted directly for each employment opportunity, you are in control of the process and no resume is sent unless you have approved the prospective company.
How does the process work?
Once an assessment is completed and permission has been given to send your resume to a law firm or company, the recruiter functions like a "middle person" and oversees the interview process to ensure continuity. The recruiter is involved in confirming interviews and soliciting feedback from both parties regarding a resume, phone screen or interview. In most cases, the hiring company extends a job offer directly as opposed to the recruiter. In addition, recruiters can be invaluable resources and can offer assistance in preparing for interviews.
What is the cost of engaging your firm in a search process?
The search is free to the candidate. PS Companies is a contingent-based search firm. This means the employer pays a fee for identifying a candidate to the company or law firm.
Will my resume be kept confidential?
Absolutely! PS Companies understands how important it is to maintain confidentiality when working with attorneys given the legal community is a small world. Once your resume is sent to PS Companies, your resume does not go anywhere without your approval. Rest assured, you are working with experienced professionals who respect your desire to keep all information confidential.
In the event I am not selected as a candidate for a specific opening, will I be considered for future positions?
Yes, your resume will be kept in a database and you will be contacted about future openings that fit your criteria for employment.
What sort of positions do you recruit for?
PS Companies recruits for a gamut of positions that include Staff Attorney, Senior Counsel, Assistant General Counsel and General Counsel. Also, PS Companies is experienced in working on various niche areas of law as well as intellectual property, product liability, healthcare, general corporate and real estate.
What are the benefits to utilizing a third party for my search?
There are a number of benefits to working with a recruiter as opposed to sending a resume blindly to a company website. Given that PS Companies has established relationships with companies, we have earned an excellent reputation for vetting candidates for specific positions. As a result, clients trust our expertise in identifying not only an accurate skill set but also matching an attorney to the culture of a company. When you work with PS Companies, you are working with account managers who have relationships with those who are making hiring decisions for a company and can provide a "big picture" perspective of who you are.
Also, while companies are inundated with hundreds of resumes for openings that are posted on a company website, the process can be daunting and reduced to a word search of resumes. In an effort to save time and resources, companies turn to recruiting agencies as a method to identify only a select number of candidates for an opening. Clients implicitly trust PS Companies with their search process and may choose not to advertise or post an opening on a website.
When considering an employment opportunity, submitting a resume is a big step. Often times a candidate will have questions about an opportunity. A third party can clarify information, answer questions and maintain your anonymity. This is another way to ensure confidentiality up until the point you are confident that an opportunity is an excellent match between you and the company.
