    Milwaukee Senior In-House Counsel

    As the Senior Counsel, you will be in a lead role, interacting with all lines of business and operational clients. This is contract drafting and regulatory work in a business corporate environment with no litigation involved. We will look to you to provide legal counsel, draft and negotiate complex business contracts, and manage other legal activities relating to a variety of business, corporate, operations or risk management functions/issues as assigned. You will utilize business acumen and legal skills to assist our Operations area with their legal needs.

    More specifically, you will be responsible for providing advice on and implementing the contractual structure of complex business deals and for drafting, reviewing and negotiating all types of corporate contracts to support our vendor management strategy. In addition, we will look to you to review statutes and regulations; and provide advice on resolving legal, business and/or regulatory issues for our internal business clients. Use your vast knowledge to provide legal review, analysis, and advice to business partners/functional areas as assigned. You may also supervise and develop staff.

    Qualifications

    • Requires a Bachelor's Degree plus a law degree (Juris Doctor) from an ABA accredited law school and a current license to practice law.

    • Requires not less than 8 years experience in contract design, drafting and negotiation.

    • Requires not less than 5 years experience providing legal counsel on general business, regulatory and operational issues in the health insurance industry or related legal field.

    • Prior work with complex deals, M&A or health plan contracting a plus.

    • Requires excellent oral and written communication ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel within the company and vendors.

    • Requires project management and time-management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities to accomplish assigned duties under deadline pressure.

    • Requires strong interpersonal ability to effectively work with internal business clients and legal team.

    • Demonstrated ability to deal with complex problems, resolve conflicts, and handle complaints.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, make quick decisions and function effectively under pressure.

    • Proven track record of advice and counsel to internal and external corporate clients

    • Possess high integrity and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.

    • Results-oriented, resourceful, self-motivated, able to work independently.

    • Must possess the ability to gather and analyze data from various sources.

    • Travel less than 5%.

    • Strong yearly bonus system.

    As a member of the Global Law Services team, you will provide research, legal and/or Intellectual Property counsel, recommendations, and alternatives for the more significant legal questions and issues specifically relating to software and other relevant technologies.  In addition, you will:
